My first weeks in France

It feels like ages ago when I was packing and preparing myself mentally for my 6 months in Montpellier. I was a bit nervous, well actually panicked is a more accurate word. Yeah I couldn’t imagine myself living in a foreign country, far away from my family and my husband. But I HAD to go.

I travelled to Paris with two of friends from back home, but instead of going with them to Montpellier I stayed in Paris for a few days with Frederic. It was Love in Paris. It was cold and windy, and we didn’t have much to do, but it we enjoyed! It was like a soft landing in France for me, before heading off to Montpellier all alone –well, almost alone at least. Saying goodbye wasn’t easy, but after waiting for the train for almost 2 hours (see it was late, as so much is down here), I was on my way to the south.

The trip through France was AMAZING. First snow storm, then green fields with sheep and horses, then snowy mountains and deep valleys and then it started getting greener. Hills with olive trees and wine yards and palm trees in the sun! It was like travelling in time; from winter to summer. But it wasn’t that warm though. And it was raining when I arrived, or at least it was cold (I can’t really remember).

Anyway all that feels so far away now. I’ve kind of got used to being here. After my first week in Montpellier, which was a pain in the ass by the way, I’ve started to like this city more and more. People are nice, it’s warm (although not that often… but anyway!) and there’s so much to do. We haven’t quite figured out what there is to actually, but I’m SURE there’s plenty interesting things to do. What we’ve been doing is mostly shopping, walking, looking around, finding our way, shopping, taking the tram, shopping, going to a bar or a night club, shopping, cooking, shopping, cooking, and now studying as well! You see, life is gooood. I do miss home now and then, sometimes a lot but sometimes just a little. The main thing is that I’m sure I can do this. It’s not bad. It’s actually pretty damn cool to be here.
